Education Specialist – Head Start

Statement of the Job: The Education Specialist is responsible for facilitating full and effective implementation of evidence-based instructional practices in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards (HSPS) and Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) Licensing Regulations by providing Teachers with instructional leadership through design, delivery and coordination of intensive professional development; facilitation of interdisciplinary collaboration; and administrative support. Outcomes of the Education Specialist will include exemplary early learning classroom quality, teacher-child interactions, and retention of staff. This position is responsible for supervising and coaching teaching teams.

 Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field with a minimum of 18 credit hours preferred plus 1 year of supervisory and/or coaching experience.
  • Knowledge of early childhood curriculum and developmentally appropriate practice for the specific age group 6 weeks to 5 years of age.
  • Knowledge and use of High Scope Curriculum, Second Step and Conscious Discipline.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and ability to utilize reflective supervision.
  • Knowledge of and ability to asses, analyze, and interpret Head Start Performance Standards, Kansas and local licensing requirements and the organization’s philosophy preferred.

 

Head Start and Early Head Start, Full-time Teachers

Statement of the Job: The Teacher is responsible for the planning, implementation and coordination of the comprehensive education program. The Teacher ensures that the education program is developmentally appropriate and meets the individual needs of the children as mandated by Head Start, state and local standards.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in child development, early childhood education, or a related field required. A minimum of 18 credit hours in early childhood education preferred.
  • 1-3 years teaching in a preschool environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of Kansas licensing and Head Start Performance Standards a plus

 

Substitute Teacher

Statement of the Job: Substitute Teachers provide coverage and support in the classroom as needed due to absence of regular full/part time teachers.

Required Qualifications: Associate or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a related field with one year’s experience is required.


 

Kitchen Assistant, Part-time

Statement of the Job: The kitchen assistant is a part-time position and will assist with food preparation, delivery, service, and documentation of meals in accordance with established standards of nutrition, health, and sanitation to all classrooms. This position also provides program and nutrition support consistent with Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) regulations, state licensing, and application Head Start Performance Standards.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent and experience in a responsible position.

 

Office/Kitchen Substitute

Statement of the Job: The Office/Kitchen Substitute will provide coverage and support at the front desk or in the kitchen as needed due to absence of regular full/part time employees.

Required Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent and experience in a responsible position is required.
