Statement of the Job: Responsible for managerial oversight and direction to Early Head Start and Head Start programs, consistent with agency policies and applicable federal and state regulations, under the administrative direction of the Executive Director. Coach, mentor, supervise and support program coordinating staff. Collaborate with the senior leadership team to provide leadership in the planning, design, implementation and evaluation of program systems and represent the agency in local, state and regional communities.
Required Qualifications: Experience in administration and supervision, with strong leadership and management skills; ability to balance regulatory requirements with budget constraints and growing community needs. Strong knowledge of theories and practices of Early Childhood Education, Human Services and/or Human Development. A B.A. or B.S. in Early Childhood Education, Human Services or related field required, preferably a Master’s degree. Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards preferred. Excellent oral and written communication skills; Strong organizational skills to provide timely administration of assorted duties; Ability to work well in a team environment; Ability to engage in difficult conversations; Ability to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships.
Statement of the Job: The Education Coordinator (EC) is responsible for the daily management of the services in the education component and for the assurance of compliance with Head Start Program Performance Standards, the Head Start Act, Kansas licensing and other necessary guidelines. The EC shall apply professional expertise, through mentoring, coaching, supervision, guidance and feedback as related to the education component, to staff, parents and community partners. The EC will work in collaboration with all other disciplines (Mental Health, Disabilities, Health and Nutrition, Family Services, etc.) in order to provide internal consulting services, training, and compliance monitoring.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related field. Experience supervising staff. Experience working with young children. Ability to manage multiple tasks. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Statement of the Job: The Family Educator is responsible for providing Early Head Start home visitation services, utilizing the Parents as Teachers curriculum to deliver child development and parenting education. The Family Educator will complete ongoing assessments and screenings for all children, and refer children with suspected disabilities. The Family Educator assists parents in identifying family strengths and needs, setting self-sufficiency goals, and accessing community support agencies.
Required Qualifications: BA/BS in social work, human services, family services, counseling, psychology, sociology, early childhood education or related field, etc., PAT certification (0-5) or prior certification PAT or other early child curriculum, valid driver’s license, operational and insured personal car.
Early Head Start/Head Start Assistant Teacher
Statement of the Job: The Assistant Teacher is responsible for contributing to the planning, implementation and coordination of the comprehensive education program. The Assistant Teacher supports the teaching team in ensuring that the education program is developmentally appropriate and meets the individual needs of the children as mandated by Head Start and state and local standards.
Required Qualifications: A Child Development Associate credential (CDA); or enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood or Child Development and one year’s experience is required.
Head Start Substitute Teacher
Statement of the Job: To provide coverage and support in the classroom as needed due to absence of regular full/part time employees.
Required Qualifications: Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a related field with a minimum of 18 credits in Early Childhood or Child Development and one year’s experience is required.
Statement of the Job: The Office/Kitchen Substitute will provide coverage and support at the front desk or in the kitchen as needed due to absence of regular full/part time employees.
Required Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent and experience in a responsible position is required.
