Development & Community Relations Director

Statement of the Job: The Development & Community Relations Director serves on the senior management team to provide leadership in fund development activities to meet the Program’s objectives. Provide leadership and oversight of a diversified fundraising program including grant writing, an annual giving program, planned giving, corporate giving, special events and in-kind contributions. Assume primary responsibility for securing financial support for the organization while ensuring all development activities are consistent with the organization’s mission, vision and values. Monitor the grants budget, calendar and strategies to generate support from governmental, corporate, community and family foundations. Supervise development staff and monitor success within defined areas of responsibility. Represent the Executive Director to the Kansas City philanthropic community as needed.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor degree in English, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications or other related field; Prior experience in a fundraising capacity with a proven history of direct solicitation; Experience in the areas of grant writing, planned giving, major donor development and annual fundraising; Excellent research skills; Knowledge of fundraising databases with capability to design and provide dashboard reports; Excellent interpersonal, leadership, organization, verbal and written communication skills.


Family Educator

Statement of the Job: The Family Educator is responsible for providing Early Head Start home visitation services, utilizing the Parents as Teachers curriculum to deliver child development and parenting education.  The Family Educator will complete ongoing assessments and screenings for all children, and refer children with suspected disabilities.  The Family Educator assists parents in identifying family strengths and needs, setting self-sufficiency goals, and accessing community support agencies.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in social work, human services, family services, counseling, psychology, sociology, early childhood education or related field, Parents As Teachers certification (0-5) or prior certification PAT or other early child curriculum, valid driver’s license, operational and insured personal car. 


Early Head Start/Head Start Assistant Teacher

Statement of the Job: The Assistant Teacher is responsible for contributing to the planning, implementation and coordination of the comprehensive education program. The Assistant Teacher supports the teaching team in ensuring that the education program is developmentally appropriate and meets the individual needs of the children as mandated by Head Start and state and local standards.

Required Qualifications: A Child Development Associate credential (CDA); or enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree in Early Childhood or Child Development and one year’s experience is required.


Family Support Advocate

Statement of the Job: The Family Support Advocate is responsible for maintaining at a minimum, monthly contact with assigned caseload via home visits, telephone, and group activities, to promote partnership and provide for regular communication.  Conduct intakes by appointment and during walk-in registration for Early Head Start and Head Start.  Assist in maintaining full enrollment.  Encourage family and parent involvement in all program activities.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor Degree in Social Work or a related field such as psychology, sociology, etc. valid driver’s license, operational and insured personal car; Knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards; and Experience in Home Visitation preferred.


Head Start Substitute Teacher

Statement of the Job: To provide coverage and support in the classroom as needed due to absence of regular full/part time employees.

Required Qualifications: Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a related field with a minimum of 18 credits in Early Childhood or Child Development and one year’s experience is required.


Office/Kitchen Substitute

Statement of the Job: The Office/Kitchen Substitute will provide coverage and support at the front desk or in the kitchen as needed due to absence of regular full/part time employees.

Required Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent and experience in a responsible position is required.
